Who I am
Hello! I’m an actor, director, and writer in New York. Growing up in Texas, I wanted to do three things from the time I was three years old. I wanted to be a pediatrician, a farmer, and a chef. I wanted to “help children, grow food, and cook the food I grew.” This eventually gave way to a very successful research project on earthworms that happened to garner statewide attention … Texans love their earthworms. They especially love a seven year old who knows a lot about them.
My love of science only grew. And my certainty that I would become a doctor was never questioned. Meanwhile though, I had been acting and directing plays in high school. I loved improv and comedy, and I knew that I could make someone laugh on a dime. Then my life changed when I closed my last high school play. It simply felt like I wasn’t finished acting. So, I put my scientific mind aside and followed my heart into the theatre. That led to a BFA in Drama and Producing from NYU. That led to studying at Atlantic and studying Commedia dell’Arte in Florence. That led to the beginning of what I hope is a long life dedicated to the serious pursuit of joy. Today, my performances range from slapstick comedy to dark drama, yet it’s the joy for the craft that suggests I found exactly where I’m meant to be.
Acting is the only career that truly satisfies my three year old self. I can be a pediatrician, a farmer, and a chef all in a day’s work. What a dream I get to live!
